Abstract

Fumonisins are responsible for equine leukoencephalomalacia (ELEM), mycotoxins produced by Fusarium of incidence in corn crops. In Jalisco State (México), six cases of ELEM were detected and confirmed by histopathological and neurological findings and fumonisins analysis. This is the first report of fumonisins in corn stubble associated to ELEM cases.
